So I was having dinner at one of my favorite downtown Fort Worth restaurants last night and I had my trusty deck of cards with me. I was trying to see how fast I could memorize a deck of cards and my friend felt the need to explain to her friend my odd behavior. ‘He trains for memory tournaments and used to hold the record for the fastest to memorize a deck of cards in the USA. He is training to memorize a deck of cards.’

The other girl looked shocked for a moment and said, ‘What is your last name?’ ‘White.’

‘Were you in the military?’ Yes.

‘Were you interviewed by NPR a few years ago?’ Yes.

‘Was the show called Radio Lab?’ Yeah, I think so.

‘Oh wow! I have that interview on my phone I listen to it all the time!’ Now that was a fun feeling. Running into a random person who had enjoyed one of my interviews so much that she kept it on her cell phone. Just for the heck of it if you want to hear the show she heard where I was at the World Memory Championship in London in 2009 as I was talking about my memory training and brain training here is the link:
