Today is Veteran’s Day and I am so conflicted on what to write about. There certainly is a lot to do with memory when it comes to the military at least for me. In the newspaper USA Today they printed that we still have thousands of missing Americans from wars going back to World War II. The stats they posted are:

World War II 73,690

Korean War 7,980

Vietnam War 1,681

Gulf War 2

Iraq War 1

Afghanistan 1

That is 83,555 by my count. So today on this Veterans Day I do ask that we remember. That we remember those who not only didn’t make it back but we don’t know how they died. Veteran’s Day is a proud day in the USA where we salute our military but it is also a solemn day where we must remember the ones who didn’t make it home.

One of the reasons I took such pride in being the USA Memory Champion is my love for my country and to represent my nation in my sport was an incredible honor. Yet, a higher honor was serving in the US Navy from 2002-2010 and spending a deployment to Afghanistan in 2007. Many asked if I used my memory training skills to teach the military how to improve their memory for better job performance. Yes and no. In reality the military has their way of doing things and they do it that way. On the other hand, one several occasions I did have the chance to teach a few memory seminars to my unit and I know several did end up using my memory training system to advance their military career.

Today as we salute all veterans I thought I would share with you my favorite Veteran’s Day song of ALL TIME
